Farewell Gardenia

Poor gardenia, I knew it's days (hours, hell minutes, in this case) were numbered after Boots uprooted it yesterday.  No sooner had I published my Rottweiler Wednesday post when I went back out on the porch to find this:
What?  No, it's not what you're thinking.  It wasn't me Mom.  Actually that plant attacked me.  I was just defending myself.
UGH!  That little booger.  She just couldn't leave it alone.  It might have lived to flower another day, but she fixed that.  All that was left was the root ball.

Ahhh...puppies.  I knew better, too.  I don't know if this is just a Rottie trait, but once they get on to something, it will never be safe again until they have completely dominated (destroyed) it.

Poor gardenia never had a chance!

So now all potted plants, shoes, bric-a-brac, food, pillows, toys, books, etc will all be found on counters, desk tops, high closet shelves. There will be nothing on the floor!
The 'guilty' picture is cute! It tells the story quite well!

LOL! Poor plant! I remember when I first got Savanah my mom kept finding dirt all over the dining room where her plants were in the window. She was furious our new puppy was getting up there somehow and spreading dirt. Then the next day we hear savanah scuffling and growling in the dining room only to come in to find she found the culprit and was pouncing repeatedly on top of his head in puppy fashion; a mole. Mr. Mole met his demise as he went pot surfing and 2 month old Savanah found herself a new squeaky toy. My mom now puts moth balls in all her plants before bringing them in from outside lest another mole take up the sport of pot surfing again.

Whew. That's a relief...I gotta tell ya, I thought you might have had a bunny named Gardenia....

Sounds like Boots has a little squirrel in him. You'll have to come up with some devious methods to keep your plants safe from his curious rooting.

Funny! My son's dog had a cherry tree incident, my son planted a cherry tree and was so proud of it, and the next day he was at school, and there was Sox, the Aussie pup, as proud as could be, running around with it in her mouth....I stuck it back in the ground, put a small fence around it, and it is growing well today!

Oh no! I can't help it though, it's all so cute. But little Boots does seem to have a determined streak running through her. :)

Poor Gardenia... I hate to say this but your baby is starting to look grown up. She's starting to lose that puppy look and start looking like a dog. Before you know it she will start acting like a dog and you will miss puppy.
