Bunny Sunday

Hoppy Halloween everyone!  Check out our costumes mom made for us -- scary, huh?  We'll be out trick or treating later, can we stop by your house?  Unlike those bratty kids, we'd love to get an apple in our treat bags...

Arizona Cowgirl in Maine

Being from Arizona, being able to see some fall color here in Maine was really nice.  There were lots of leaves on the ground, but still plenty on the trees to put on a show for me:

Not only did I get to see some fall color, I also got to see the ocean!  Two things I definitely don't get to see often.  AND, the sun came out today and it was actually warm.
Marj and I had lunch at North Hampton Beach.  My first ever Lobstah (otherwise known as Lobster) Roll from The Beach Plum:

Mmmmmmm....
We sat on the sea wall and enjoyed our lunch in the sun with the sound of the waves crashing behind us.  Perfect!

Having a great time in Maine.  Wish you were here.  :)

Bunny Sunday

Good morning bunny lovers!  Hope your Bunny Sunday is going well so far.

Recently I became acquainted with Sue Andre, an artist and fellow bunny lover.  She has a shop on Etsy and I fell in love with her work.  I purchased a little portrait for my ACEO collection of her bunny Clovis:

Isn't he adorable?  If you're not familiar with ACEOs, they are little works of art that measure 2.5" by 3.5".  I have a little easel that sits above my work bench that contains my collection and every couple days I rotate a new one to the front.

Check out my latest one:

Yes, that is my own little bunny supermodel Turbo!  Sue graciously created this masterpiece for me using several pictures on my blog.  I LOVE it!  And yes, those are my boots in the background :)

If you have a treasured photo of your own bunny (or other favorite pet) you'd like created into your own work of art, please do contact Sue through her Etsy shop.  You won't be disappointed!  Oh, and check out her blog when you get a chance, too, where you can see more pics of her Clovie Boy.

Viva Bunnies!

Southwest to Northeast

That's where I'm heading this weekend.  I'm making a cross country trek (by air) to visit and meet these guys:

Elmo:
"The Girls":

Bob and Georgia Ray:

Oh yeah, and to visit with these guys' mom (my good friend Marj) and her husband, Joe.  That's right, I'm heading to Maine!  I've never been to Maine OR to Marj's house before, so it should be a real treat.  I am sort of wondering why I waited until the END OF OCTOBER to make this journey, though.  I'm going to freeze while I'm there!  But, Marj did say that there is still plenty of color left to see, so that will be nice, considering the only color here in the desert right now is brown.

If you don't recall this from previous posts, Marj and I met through our blogs almost 2 years ago and struck up a friendship.  She came out to Arizona to visit me last October, so now it is my turn to make the trip that way.  If you get a chance, go check out her blog Cowgirl Goods.... she always has fun posts about her neck of the woods and life around her little farm.

I'll be taking lots of pics while I'm there to share with you.  Have a great weekend everyone!

Back Scratcher

In lieu of training pics this week, I thought I'd give you all a little peak at one of Piper's favorite things --  a good back scratch:

When we are cleaning the stalls, she will stalk us and pester us (and usually dump over the wheelbarrow) until we finally stop what we are doing and give her a good scratchin'.  She would stand there all day and let us scratch her if we didn't stop to go back to cleaning.

"A little more to the left mom."  Geez, get it right.

"Go away Sassy, I've got dibs on this rake..."

Hope you all are having a great week.  I'm heading out this weekend on a big adventure (I'll post more on that tomorrow).  I'm excited!

Bunny Sunday

Somehow, the bunnies have taken over my blog.  Seems like all I get around to posting about these days are these furry little creatures.  Not like I don't have other things going on in my life... training/riding Piper (I definitely need to post more on this -- lots of great progress happening), fundraisers for the horse rescue, new jewelry creations, all the other animals, etc.  But an entire week can go by and I haven't posted.  I need to share a little more of what is going on in my world.  So, that is my plan.

But for now, what I know you all have been waiting for!  BUNNY SUNDAY  :)  Today, I've selected a few choice photos from the bunny archives for your viewing enjoyment...

Bully drinking from the pond:

And another of Bully, meeting a new friend:

That's all for today friends.  My plan for the week is to post about Piper's training and fill you in on where we are with that.  Stay tuned!

Bunny Monday

Another busy Sunday flew by and no Bunny Sunday post!  The bunnies had visitors yesterday --- my friend, her husband and 6 (of their 9) kids.  Needless to say, the bunnies were busy being loved on and eating lots of treats.  They were a big hit with the little ones.

And I didn't even get any pictures!  So, here are a few from last week.  Bunnies in the courtyard enjoying some outside time....

I'd love to have a painting of this one with Bully.

Turbo and Rosie through the screen door.  (Rosie doesn't understand why she can't go out and play with everyone).
Digger marking his territory by "chinning" it.  (Bunnies have scent glands under their chins and that is how they mark what is theirs).
And no bunny post is complete without a picture of Turby hamming it up...
Have a great week everyone!

Itty Bitty Garden Visitor

Look at this wee little horned toad we found the other day ~

He (or she? -- we're calling him "he") is so cute, just a perfect little specimen.  Barely bigger than a dime!

We named him Spike and tucked him under the oregano in the garden and told him to go find a hide-out where he'll be safe.

He has quite an expressive little face.  One of those, "so ugly he's cute" situations.  (and speaking of ugly, those are NOT my fingers --- although I have to admit there are times when my fingernails look just as bad...)

I think I'll have to send this photo to The Daily Squee.  It's definitely squee worthy.  If you have no idea what I'm talking about, go check out The Daily Squee website.  They post pics daily of all kinds of cute baby animals.  It's one of those sites you find yourself going to just to put a smile on your face.  Your daily dose of cuteness.  SQUEE!!!!

Bunny Sunday

The weather is beautiful this morning -- very fall like.  The bunnies were happy to get outside to spend time in their outdoor casa.  The casa is connected to the garden, so we let them out to run around a bit before herding them into the casa.
There were lots of binkies going on (for those of you who don't know what a binky is - it is the ultimate expression of bunny joy.  They take off running and then jump into the air, kick their legs out and sometimes even flip their bodies around mid air.  It's quite the sight to see!)  I tried to catch a mid-air binky, but wasn't quick enough.

This is Diggy, pre-binky:

And little Turbo doing a drive-by on Sandie:
Ginger striking a pose:
OK guys, into the casa you go...

They'll get to hang outside for a few hours this morning.  Even though the casa is nicely shaded, it's still getting pretty warm here in AZ, so I'll bring them back inside in a little while.  I've had people comment to me before that "wild bunnies stay outside in the heat, why not these bunnies?"  1) these bunnies are not wild and 2) wild bunnies burrow into the ground to stay cool.  Domestic bunnies should never be left out in the heat!
OK, that's my bunny public service announcement for the day.  Have a great Bunny Sunday everyone!
