Bunny Devotion

If you've never been lucky enough to see 2 bunnies who are completely bonded, let me just tell you, it is one of the sweetest things ever.

Over the last 5 years that they have been together, we have seen Nutmeg and Patches' devotion to each other daily.  I would go out on a limb to say not a day went by that we didn't see them looking something like this:
Or this:

Or this:

Sadly, our daily dose of bunny devotion has come to an end.  We lost Patches suddenly a week ago.  Nutmeg continued on for 3 days without her, but she was already dealing with some health issues and was barely starting to recover from those and she took a turn for the worse.  We decided to help her across the bridge so she could go be with her Patchy.

I held both of these sweet bunnies while they took their last breaths.  It's been a rough week around here getting used to them not being here with us.  But, the thing that comforts me is thinking about them together on the other side.  I'm pretty sure they look something like this:
Best buddies, together forever.  As it should be....

I thought of you every day this past week Bridget and shared some of your sorrow. There just isnt much more I can say except how very lucky we are to have these furry babies (and hairy) in our lives for a while. I hope Catus Rose is doing okay too. I know Patches and Nutmeg were her buddies.

OMG, I've never met them, but they still brought tears to my eyes. Yes better that they are together for sure. My little lop mourned his cat buddy and didn't understand where he went, he was always looking for him and never the same. Knowing that they are together in heaven is a big comfort.

This just breaks my heart, as I know it does yours. They had a very sweet life with you, safe and loved. That is always the most we can do for them.
Hugs...

I must have missed a post on the bunnies at some point this past week. With the holiday, I probably did. I am sooo sorry to hear about these two amigos. They seem to have brought a lot of joy to your heart and the household. I'm sure they are snuggling on the other side.

keep in touch,
Teresa

How sad for you to have lost two sweeties in such a short span of time! Lucky bunnies, though, to have had you, to have had each other, and to have each other still, doing binkies together at the Bridge.

Bridgette, I am so terribly sorry to hear about the loss of your darlin's. The one comfort like you said is that are still together and happy and pain free.

((HUGS)) I'm so sorry. To lose one fur baby is bad enough but two in the same week is just unbearable.

2010 has been the most horrible year for human and animal departures. I can't wait to get it over with.

Like Christina I have had you guys on my mind all week. And like Diana I too am thankful to you for the loving home you gave those two sweet bunnies. The unconditional love you gave them allowed them to thrive. Such a blessing you were to them and they to you. I surely do wish there was a fast way through the grieving. *sigh* Sending you hugs dear Bridget.
