Bunny Sunday

The weather is beautiful this morning -- very fall like.  The bunnies were happy to get outside to spend time in their outdoor casa.  The casa is connected to the garden, so we let them out to run around a bit before herding them into the casa.
There were lots of binkies going on (for those of you who don't know what a binky is - it is the ultimate expression of bunny joy.  They take off running and then jump into the air, kick their legs out and sometimes even flip their bodies around mid air.  It's quite the sight to see!)  I tried to catch a mid-air binky, but wasn't quick enough.

This is Diggy, pre-binky:

OK guys, into the casa you go...

They'll get to hang outside for a few hours this morning.  Even though the casa is nicely shaded, it's still getting pretty warm here in AZ, so I'll bring them back inside in a little while.  I've had people comment to me before that "wild bunnies stay outside in the heat, why not these bunnies?"  1) these bunnies are not wild and 2) wild bunnies burrow into the ground to stay cool.  Domestic bunnies should never be left out in the heat!
OK, that's my bunny public service announcement for the day.  Have a great Bunny Sunday everyone!

lovely to see! especially the pre binky shot - I can just see it happening!
and you are so right about wild rabbits, in their cool earth burrows away from the midday heat, completely different from house rabbits.

loved your chicken post below!

Thanks for mentioning about the heat...I've been saying that too. In summer here in MI, even with central air on 70, my big guy will plaster himself up against his fan. He loves his fan. Also while wild buns stay in their burrow all day and come out at night when it's cooler!

Aww so cute. So my grandfather used to tell me rabbits danced under the full moon. My mother and I laughed and thought it was one of his funny Australia stories until one day we looked out to see 6 rabbits sitting in a circle. One by one they would take turns jumping strait up in the air as far as they could, landing right on the same spot; just like my grandfather said. What is this they are doing?

Thanks for posting this, it really kind of brightened up my day! Can I move to the casa? It's freezing in NY even inside my apartment!

Oh geez I know, I actually get pretty upset seeing any domestic bunny left outside, people think the pens are 'nice and safe' etc but I've rescued poor buns from farms where they are left outside for the mosquitoes to eat, the foxes to terrorize, etc...keep your bunnies inside people, plain and simple!.....I LOVE seeing yours running around...it does my heart good, thanks so much for sharing these shots and for loving bunnies so so well:D
