Happy Birthday Bunnies!

Our little band o' bunnies turned 6 years old on August 4th.  Hard to believe they ever were this small:
And to celebrate their birthday, I bought them a special surprise --- a bunny fort!

This way, they can spend some time outdoors when the weather is nice and I don't have to worry about them being out in the open.  I put this in the courtyard outside my studio and I can look out the window and see them while I'm working at my bench.  :)

They had fun running in and out and eventually they all flopped inside (even though the door was still open).

Even Bully approved!
Digger and Sandie thought the willow chair was much more interesting, though.
Turbo gave the bunny-diva seal of approval (and seized the opportunity to look adorable, as always)
"They don't call me the bunny supermodel for nothing."

And last, but not least, Ginger.  He was more interested in the treats than the fort.
It has been another great year for this little family of bunnies.  Everyone is happy and healthy and well loved.  As it should be!

Till next time ---
XOXO, Sandie, Digger, Ginger, Bully & Turbo

Bunny Sunday... Maybe, Just Maybe....

Daisy and Ginger have been having some play time together lately.  Initially I thought Turbo would be a good fit for a buddy for Daisy since she is the smallest and lowest on the totem pole of the bunny bunch.  Wrong.  Seems she has a chip on her little bunny shoulder and figured she would be the boss of Daisy, since she can't be the boss of anyone else!  She ran poor Daisy around and pulled tufts of fur out of her butt.  Bad Turby.

Ginger is the "middle" bun. (He's a boy bun with a girl bun name...just don't tell him that.)  Sandie and Digger are the 2 other boys, with Sandie being the patriarch of the bunch.  Digger seems to be second in command.  Bully and Turbo are the 2 girls.  Bully definitely lives up to her name and tries to be the boss of everyone.  She wants NOTHING to do with another girl bun, so I knew she was out of the running to be Daisy's friend.

Daisy presented herself to Ginger to be groomed, but he wasn't all that interested one way or the other.  He spent most of their time together eating any stray pellets he could find left over from Daisy's breakfast.  But there was no grunting or chasing going on, so I thought that was a good sign.
Until he did this!  And even then, there was no fighting going on.  Daisy was content to let him be the boss.  She really just wants a friend.  But, I finally had to intercede because I thought Ginger was going to squish her!
For now, I'm happy that I can put the two of them together for short visits.  It's good to see Daisy interacting with another bunny.  Keep your fingers crossed for more progress!

Happy Bunny Sunday to all.

Bunny Sunday

Sharing some of my favorite Christmas bunny pics this morning:

Nutmeg made the best little Santa.  I miss this little brown tyrant so much!
Bunnies and Cactus Rose...hoppin' around the Christmas tree...
Santa and her little helper elf, Ginger.  He was ok with the hat, but drew the line at the pointed elf shoes...
My very favorite pic of Nutmeg and Patches:
Patchy was always a good sport!  I had forgotten about this pic and it gave me a good laugh this morning.
One of  my favorite ornaments on the tree.  This is made from an original oil painting by the very talented Charlotte Yealey.
Happy Bunny Sunday and Merry Christmas to all from the Fab 5!

Easter Bunny Sunday

The bunnies had a photo session the other day for their Easter Bunny Sunday post:
They were very cooperative.  Adding some alfalfa to the basket brought them running!
Diggy was so grateful he seemed to be saying a little prayer:
"Thank you O' Great Easter Bunny for this special treat.  You rock.  Amen."
Apparently this is only a 3 bunny basket.
Ginger: "Hey guys, any room in there for me?"
Nope, sorry, full up.
Everyone happy at last....

Bunny Sunday

A continuation of last week's Rottie/Bunny Wednesday:

Ginger is the brave explorer of the bunch.  He always has been, even as a little tiny bun.  Always the first to check things out.
"Oh, that's just Boots."  No big deal.
I ain't afraid of no stinkin' rottweiler...
Happy Bunny Sunday!

Bunny Sunday

Ginger and Turbo had some outside time this morning in the courtyard.  The other bunnies were being lazy and didn't want to get up from their naps.
They ran around a bit and did some exploring before it got too hot out.

What?  Everyone else is getting a treat?
We're outta here.  Happy Bunny Sunday!

All Bunnies, All Week

As promised!  More "early days" pics of the Fab 5.

Pile o' buns.  They were just starting to open their eyes at around 10 days old.
Little Diggy-Do:
I picked up a portable baby playpen at the thrift store that made the perfect pen for them as babies.  We had it in our living room and used to spend more time watching these little guys than we did the TV!

Ginger looking for a way to escape:
Napping baby bunnies (Digger, Turbo and Bully).  It was impossible not to pick them up and squeeze them, even when they were sleeping so peacefully!
Big day tomorrow ~ party time!  I think a carrot cake is in order...

Bunny Sunday

Today's featured bunny is Ginger (aka Ginger Joe, Gingy, Gingy Pie). As I mentioned in last week's post, we named him before we knew he was a boy. Oops! He was the only one that had his mama's reddish-orange coloring. As little bitty bunnies, he seemed to always be the first one to learn and try new things. A little adventurer! We had them in a portable play pen for awhile. One day I caught him at the very top, ready to jump out... until he found himself nose to nose with Angel, our rottweiler (who, by the way, is a very good girl around the bunnies).

Gingy enjoying a carrot....
Sharing breakfast with Digger...Our bunnies are all held everyday, so they are very people oriented and friendly. My nephew LOVES the bunnies and has learned that a good scratch behind the ears is one of their favorite things. (This is such a great pic... a boy and his bunny)
And to go along with the theme of Bunny Sunday, here is a new bracelet that I just listed in my Etsy shop this morning:
The handcrafted copper link is etched with a sweet little bunny! The beads are blue crazy lace agate with lots of brown and copper matrix.
The curve of the bunny link fits perfectly on the wrist and is really comfortable to wear, not to mention adorable!
Happy Sunday everyone :)
