Beauregard Returns

My little hummingbird buddy has returned every day since our very special encounter last Friday.  Although I suppose there are probably more than one of his kind buzzing around here, I prefer to think it is him.  :)

Since everyone was as amazed as I was by what occurred, I am posting a little video clip of Beauregard sitting in my hand.  He doesn't do much more than sit there, but you get a better idea of the beautiful colors he sports.  Enjoy!

Did he sit in your hand again Bridget or is that from the first time? He is stunning to see! Lucky you.

Christina ~ that was from the first time, last Friday. I thought I would get him flying away out of my hand, but he just kept sitting there!

Love it! Thanks so much for posting this. Yes, I can see the gorgeous colors better with the video. I just know he IS coming back to see the human hero who saved his precious little hummingbird life ;) On that note, I need to fill my feeders again - there are tons of them here in our area (central MO) this year! -Tammy

How wonderful! You're now an official Friend of the Hummingbird Nation!

They remember feeding spots from year to year, so I'd be willing to be that he'll return to you on his way back down to Mexico in the Fall.

Your new banner is beautiful! I envy your special hummingbird encounter. And if you do find an injured hummer or other wild animal, call the Tucson Wildlife Center 290-WILD for help.

How amazing hummers are! I've never known one to fly into a window like the bigger birds. What an incredible experience!!!

Twice in my life I've been fortunate enough to rescue Ruby Throats. The first time, one got stuck in the garage and kept trying to fly into the ceiling. I was able to catch it with a very light weight piece of fabric and it rested on its own in my hand before flying away.

The second time, a hummer had flown into a cobweb in the garage and was being weighted down by sawdust in it. Cobwebs are the biggest danger to hummers.

I gently rolled the cobweb off its wings and once again, an exhausted hummer sat in my hands till it could fly away.

Simply amazing!
