Sparring partners might be a better term...
Rosie is being a good kitty, though, and not using her claws at all. She just gives Boots 3-4 good bops on the nose with her paw.Boots gets a really puzzled look on her face like, "what just happened?"
Then she throws in the towel and gives up.
Rosie: "I win again".

Rosie must have an inkling of how big Boots will get and doesn't want to burn her bridges.
They are just adorable! Rosie gets two gold stars for playing "nicely" with Boots :)
That last picture just makes me want to hug Boots!
She is growing like a weed. Hopefully her & Rosie will become best friends. Our two adult dogs are not very pleased with our new puppy...hope they come around.
How cute! Rosie looks like she has better things to do! LOL!
Rosie has a similar look to the stray cat who adopted me. :)
Boots just has to learn the pecking order: Bunnies,Rosie,Boots.
I think Rosie is thinking "Dont push me too far youngster"
Kitties always rule! Rosie Rocks! Boots will be 75# and Rosie will win.
What a wonderful kitty.
I love your action shots. What fun to see them sparring!
Wow Boots is getting so big so fast!
Rosie is a perfect teacher :)
Cute! I would be nervous watching them.
Maybe someday you'll find them snuggled up together.
Rosie is a good girl. The scene is all too familiar (my parents had a 5 year old cat when my sister got her dog). We've pulled out a few claws from the dog's nose. The cat is a fairly quiet kitty but doesn't make eye contact with the dog without SCREAMING, growling, hissing so loud you can hear it two flights upstairs. Yours are both young though. I think they'll work out an arrangement that works.
cute! all dogs should submit to cats, at least thats what my cat thinks, he teases dogs till the chase him then a good swat on the nose and they give up. Im sure they will get along good :)
They are soooooo much like my 2!!! a 6 month old puppy and a tolerent cat who puts up with her ...most of the time ;)
Ok...that is just totally funny!!!
xx, shell
Animal behaviour. It's fascinating, isn't it? Luna & Celine seem to have established acceptable boundaries and modes of behaviour, too. It's probably good that Rosie is drawing her line in the proverbial litter box now, while Boots is still small enough for her to take on.
We don't know whether to bark or meow out loud!
