2 Old Guys on the Loose

Whenever we're cleaning stalls we usually just open up the gate and let "the boys", Bandit and Phoenix, out to roam around. They usually don't go too far, but they like the idea that they could, if they really wanted to. They make the rounds, down past the mares, check out the round pen and then come back around by the horse trailer.

Synchronized old guys:
Phoenix is the original old guy. I've posted about him and his antics before. At the ripe old age of 32 he's missing half his teeth, he's very gray in the face and has just a few stray hairs for a mane, but he's still going strong! He comes running for his soaked pellet mush every morning and night, and as long as he is doing that, I know we're in good shape.
Bandit is an old retired ranch horse who hit the jackpot when he found us. He lived a hard life prior to finding us and is now spending his days relaxing with his buddy, Phoenix. He is super sweet and still loves to get out and do a little trail riding. Hey, old guys need love, too.

I like your place..you know, I've never heard of a horse being that old..he must have done something good in his life, to end up with people who would take care of him in his old age! That is so sweet! Come say hi :D

I love it when you blog the horses! (and the bunnies, goats, dogs) Did you ever find a home for the little kitten you were taking care of?

I love the new header. Your home looks beautiful.

A very special message was left for you on Heartland's blog. Go check it out sometime.

Aww bless the oldies :). At the stable where I used to keep my horse many moons ago, we had horses well into their 40's so I hope your boys get to that age and more!

How old is Bandit?

These old boys seem very happy to roam the range together!!! My desert stables has many horses in their late 30's...and even 40's that still get saddled up and ridden on the the trails. They have 80 head of rentals and these "old guys" still have a job to do and do it well!!! The Desert Rose always has treats for them...they all start nickering when they see me!!!LOL

Good for you. I would hate to go to the slaughter house because I was too old.

What a sweet bottom photo!!! Love the expressions of both of them!!

P.S. No bunny yet. He is either very good at hiding or maybe someone else claimed him :(
I'm still trying though!

32 years old? Wow! But then again, in such a wonderful place as yours and in such good care, it's hardly a surprise. May he be with you for many more years! I wish I could give a little loving to Phoenix and Bandit myself.
