Road Trip!

Well, sort of....

The dogs LOVE to ride in the back of the truck. This is not something we allow normally, but driving to the mailbox is the exception.

The mailbox is out on the "main" road. We have a mile of dirt road from our house to there. I usually like to walk and get some exercise, but Angel (the rottie) is getting a little older and gets too tired on the way back... Snuffy, the lab, could probably go back and forth about 5 times before he'd even think about getting tired. (Oh, and by the way, he was named by his prior owners, not us! We usually just call him Cuji-man).
I wish I could have gotten a better pic of Angel's ears flapping in the wind. Not a care in the world, lovin' life...

We should all take a tip from our dogs... find excitement and adventure wherever we can and enjoy the ride!
*A quick reminder - raffle tickets are still available for the Cowgirl Cuff, all proceeds to benefit Equine Voices Rescue and Sanctuary. Purchase your tickets through the link on the left sidebar. Thanks!

We also don't let our dogs ride in the back of the truck, only when we take them to the river, which is in our neighborhood and a very short drive. Plus one of us sits in the back with them on the leashes, we are afraid they will see something and jump out, like a deer! They just love being in the back, I don't know what it is with them and the wind in their face!!

So nice to see you do that too :) I give the old girls a ride too once in a while. Sometimes we just toodle down the back roads, just so they can hang out and love life. Our dirt road to the mailboxes is about 1/2 mile, but I'm way to lazy to actually walk! I drive or ride :)

The wind in your face and all those good smells. What more could you ask for. My old dog loved to go the car wash and the bank. We had no country to drive around in so he sat in the cab with the window cracked and a big ole grin on his face. I miss him a lot. I had to help him to the bridge 9 years ago and still think of him all the time.

I walk all the way to and from my mail box. About 100 feet. Don't let the dog(Shaggy) go. People drive 70 plus down it. It' 55. But I do walk my 80 acres 2,3 times a month.

My mailbox is on my curb--about 60 feet, far enough!!!! especially in the winter, in fact I think we don't get the mail for 3 or 4 days for fear of sliding on ice to get there.

My dogs love riding in the back of the truck. Like you, I don't usually go far with them. If we take them to our lease place, about 30 minutes away, they pile in the backseat!

Nothin' like a happy dog, wind in his face! How sweet and caring of you to drive so Angel doesn't have to be left behind. Or was that so that you didn't have to carry her back....? ;o)

Great pictures...we are 2 miles down a dirt road off the main road but fortunately for mailbox is across the road. We always have to take Sonny (our Schnauzer) on the 4-wheeler with us...he loves to ride on it.
