Angel

It's taken me a week to be able to write this post.  A week ago today we lost our sweet rottie, Angel.  She was 11 and 1/2 years old and had been with me for 11 of those years.
Her passing has left a huge hole in our daily lives.  She would wake up with us every morning and head out to check on "her" horses and goats.  She would walk along the fence making sure everyone was accounted for.  Then she'd find a nice shady spot to lie down and keep an eye on everyone.
All of our animals are special in their own way and losing any of them breaks my heart, but losing this girl so suddenly really hurt me.  I wasn't ready to say good-bye to her.
I still almost cannot believe she is gone.  I find myself looking for her everywhere and expect to see her in all of her favorite places.

Angel was a great ambassador for her breed which too often is portrayed in a negative light.  Everyone who met her loved her.

And she loved her bunnies and would even let them push her around and move her out of their way.  They had an understanding and lived peacefully together in our house.
The reality of loving and sharing your life with animals is that they will leave you too soon and always before you are ready to say good-bye.  And it hurts like hell and you will grieve and always miss them.

But you will treasure the many happy memories you have of them and be thankful you had them in your life, even for what seems like too short of a time...

Thanks for the memories Angel.  'Till we meet again.

I am very sorry to hear about your beautiful girls passing! From the posts and the pictures of her that I saw she was a one in a million dog, what a beautiful soul.

Yes, it is sad to think that our beloved pets are only here with us for a short time, but ahhh, the time that we do have with them is so very special indeed.

I know your heart is breaking now but in time it will hurt less, you were blessed with a special girl let your heart smile and be warmed by that.
hugs....

So sorry to hear of your loss. My dog is getting older too and while I think the day she leaves us is a good ways off you never really know. So glad you were able to share your life with such a wonderful dog.

I am so sorry about your loss. She was such a beautiful girl... we are never really ready to say goodbye. We know they will leave before us but that doesn't stop us from taking the animals into our lives... and that is a good thing... there are always animals who need a good home. She will always live in your heart. Bless her.

My heart breaks for you Bridget. These beautiful creatures drift in and out of our lives within seconds or minutes but leave memories and sorrow that can last for eternity. I will be thinking of you dear lady.

Oh Bridget...oh I am sooooooo sorry! It does hurt like hell. A year ago yesterday I lost my beloved Chloe bunny. She was so young. Seems we are never ready to let them go and when they go sooner than expected, it's worse.
Sending you a giant hug for your heart my friend. I'm so sorry. :(

((Brigitte)). It's no consolation but 11 is a ripe old age for a Rottie (I gather 8-9 is the average). It must have been all that love and fresh air that kept her young :).

Don't be surprised if you think you see her out of the corner of your eye occasionally. Her spirit will stick around the place where she was happiest ;-)

Dear Bridget, how sad this is. Girl this has been a really tough year for you. Eleven years is a long time and your beautiful pictures of her show why you gave her her name. I send you hugs too and hugs also to all her friends there who will miss her terribly. I agree with Gaina, I think you might feel that Angel is with you at times. My hat's off to you Angel - good job.

I am so sorry! It is never easy to bear a loss like this.

The wonderful thing about dogs is they give us so much in the short time they are with us.

This is the only downside of loving a dog...it breaks your heart at the end. The only way I got through it was someone reminded of the George Strait song..."I could have missed the pain but I would have missed the dance"..I don't think any of us would want to miss the dance with our sweet four legged friends...take care...

It is heartbreaking to lose them. She was beautiful and certainly special. It takes so long to get used to life without them.

She'll be waiting for you.
