Calling the Tooth Fairy

I've been checking Piper's mouth daily for months now, expecting that she'll be losing her baby teeth any day. Well, today was the day!

I opened her mouth and there was this tooth, just hanging there by a thread. I reached in and gave it a little tug and out it came. Now THAT is one big baby tooth! My little horse is growing up...Doesn't this remind you of every little kid's first grade school picture?

And what does the horse tooth fairy leave, anyway?

OMG...LOL, I can't stop laughing! I had no idea horse lost their teeth! That is one big "chick-let" of a tooth! Maybe a soft peppermint stick would be nice from the tooth fairy.

OMG from me too! of course baby horses loose their teeth, I've only had grown-up horses so I never really thought about it. Does Piper have a pillow to put that under?

Aww it's a front tooth too! I'm sorry but that made me laugh a lot :).

I've got one of my previous horses' teeth in a little box somewhere....I don't look at it often though as it broke my heart when we had to sell him, and that was over 20 years ago! I'm soppy :P

That is kinda freaky! Maybe you could make it into a necklace pendant, LOL! :) How long does it take the new one to grow in?

Geez - it never occured to me that horses lost their baby teeth. I should have realized that since that's what mammals do.

OMG...wonder what an elephant baby tooth looks like...or a whale???!!!

Owie. Poor Baby! Right there in the very front too. The last shot, whoa. Boy that girl has some clean teeth and pretty gums. It looks like you're making her brush twice a day Bridget!! I am with Desert Rose, maybe the tooth fairy could leave a nice warm bran mash?!

I read your blog post to my son tonight and we both got quite the laugh over it.

Funny that you posted that because a friend just caught her horse's baby tooth and wants to make a necklace of it!! :)

I didn't know horses lost baby teeth either. Great photo and I think sugar is a good gift from the tooth fairy.

And Christmas is over already...darn! (Remember, all I want for Christmas is my two front teeth?) lol!

I had no idea baby horses lost their teeth. Must be difficult to eat in the wild when they do. Hopefully they don't lose them all at once. That would be bad.
At what age do they usually begin losing them?
The gums look so raw as if a chunk of the gum came out with the tooth, too. Poor baby.
Maybe you'll incorporate baby horse teeth into your jewelry. lol!
