The hummingbirds took over our patio yesterday afternoon. No sooner had I refilled the feeder when they converged in full force. A very cool sight to see~ check it out:
Enjoy your Friday and long holiday weekend everyone!
Okay, you officially out-hummingbird me! lol Great video! I've got about 5 or 6 hummies at my feeder, but they fight too much to get that close to each other to video tape. They constantly push each other off the feeder. I think the hummingbirds here are tanking up for their long trek south. They are extremely busy sipping nectar from my feeder all day everyday, and the neighbours feeders, and all the flowers close by. I don't envy them the long travel distance they have ahead of them, but I'd love to be wherever it is they end up when they get there. LOL It's gotta be better than here in the cold north country. (I see you have those very pretty golden hummies we saw when we were in WA) ~ UxCritter :-)
Awesome video! I call it my 'other job' these days, preparing and filling the hummingbird feeders once or twice a day. They are sure busy at migration time! I will miss them! Thanks for sharing your 'flying jewels' with us :) -Tammy
Bridget, this is the greatest!! Such a delightful video. Fascinating little dynamos. I heard they will fight too, territorial and such. Yours seem to be too busy eating to fight. We had one zip through our patio the other day checking out something brightly colored and then on his way he went heading south. Thank you for sharing.
They are so fun to watch. We have a little hussy female here that guards "her" feeder. The male tries to come and drink and she constantly chases him away.
I think our hummers went to your house Bridget! Fun video, don't ya just love them? Our numbers have been dwindling down everyday. I know they are moving on :( But they have been so much fun. Enjoy your busy little bodies!
@ Danielle Barlow If you can get to Slimbridge Nature Reserve they have a small tropical house where you can see hummingbirds up close and personal :).

My mom has been having dozens of hummingbirds and 100s of butterflies lately. Such a wonderful sight! I've been visiting more just to catch a peak...
Enjoy! :)
How cool is that?! I have never seen a real hummingbird - it's on my list of things to see one day :)

Wow, that's a lot of hummingbirds.
Looks like you need a couple of more feeders for that hungry mob.
Have a great weekend and a wonderful holiday.
