My friend Brett and I had a GREAT ride the other day down in Gardner Canyon. The weather was perfect, not too hot, but still sunny with a nice little breeze blowing. And the views go on forever...
Brett, although she doesn't claim to be a cowgirl, loves riding and I can put her on any horse and not really have to worry about her. Here she is with our big guy, Chini.
And me with our little girl, Sassy.
Gardner Canyon is a beautiful and relaxing place to ride with it's rolling hills and wide open spaces. We are so lucky to live only 14 miles down the road from it. The Arizona Trail, which is a hiking/horseback trail, runs from the Mexican border up through the middle of the state and ends near the border with Utah (I believe) and it runs right through the Canyon.
We came across this little meadow that was just full of wild sunflowers. There were all kinds of butterflies and bees flitting around. Photo op!
It was a perfect day on horseback, riding and chatting and catching up on things with an old friend and enjoying the beautiful scenery. We never saw another person the entire day! What could be better? Days like that just don't come often enough.

Lucky you being so close to trails like that. I mean I have miles of fields I can ride through but how exciting lol!
ps- Get anything in the mail yet?
Very very pretty canyon! AZ is looking so nice right now :)
what a beautiful place! what a perfect day :)
so glad you both enjoyed it and the horses too!
Nice pictures. Love that first one with the low mountains in the back and puffy western clouds. Beautiful horses too. Thank you for sharing! ~M
It looks lovely :). Sassy has stunning eyes! What breed is she? She seems to have a really long back! (My horse had a long back and I have to say I found him so comfy for long rides!).
It sure does look pretty where you ride!
Have a nice Sunday!

Now that's what AZ is all about....just you, a good friend, a great horse and the big wide open. I just love that picture with the never ending views....too awesome!!!!
Sounds absolutely perfect!
Looks like a heavenly day!
Love those kind of days!! Sounds like you had a fantastic time!! The scenery is absolutely beautiful!
Wishing I could have gone with ya'll...
What fun!
Wow, I just seen your comment about Dinero and he is a palomino paint. He is pretty pale colored, but I keep hoping hell darken up as he gets a little older. He is also got a ton of winter hair already and it worries me that winter is gonna be a cold one.
You mare is very pretty. And the ride looks like so much fun.
Thats heaven on earth !
