We left our desert retreat and headed for Michigan to the little town I grew up in. It's been awhile since I've been back there and Lee has never been there with me. We also brought along my 10 year old nephew who hasn't been there since he was 3, so it was a real treat for him!
Do you think this Arizona cowboy looks a little out of place?
He did finally relinquish his hat and donned something more appropriate for a bike ride around the neighborhood....
We had a very small-town-summer visit. There was the church festival happening all weekend, complete with polka band, chicken dinner (which we missed out on) and even a parade through downtown! Next was our annual family reunion. I saw lots of relatives that I hadn't seen in many years plus met cousins I didn't even know I had. We even had front row seats to some pretty nice fireworks one night (courtesy of my dad's neighbor).
And no visit to Michigan is complete without a trip to the famous Mackinac Island. We had perfect weather for our day trip there, sunny and mid 70s. I wish we could have stayed on the island for several days. (next time!) It was so lush and green...and all that water!

Sounds like you had a grand vacation! I have never been to Mackinac Island but a friend used to go there often years ago. I would love to go there, she always told me that there are no cars on the island only horse drawn wagons, carriages and such...only horse power! Now neat!!!
Can't wait to see your next post!
Looks like fun! I would love to hear about the trip from Lee's perspective :).
Wow what a fun vacation! I have pictures of horse hair items before I ship them to you asap. I gotta run right now I gotta do a carriage ride. I might melt, its the most humid here today it has ever been, ever. Radio said so.
That looks beautiful and the weather looks Ahhhhh, cool.
Sounds like you had a great time. Mackinac Island looks like a really great place to spend some time.
Looks like a great trip!
I always worry about my little girl, Celine, when I go away. My cat-sitter is so loving and caring, when I come home, Celine doesn't even get off the bed to say hello. It's more like "oh, it's you." *smile*
What a wonderful vacation! My sister has visited Mackinac and says it is amazing.
Tell them about the fudge;)
I can relate about not going anywhere because of all our critters......
Looks like ya'll had fun.
