Happy 2015!

Just to let you know, everyone here is doing well.  Boots is a very happy 4 year old rottie, spoiled as ever.  All of the bunnies are still doing great!  They are 7 years old now and very healthy and happy.  Since little Turbo is the diva bun, she has her own Instagram page now.  Check her (and all of the other bunnies) out:  TurboSuperModelBunny.

If you are looking for Heart of a Cowgirl Jewelry, you can also find me on Instagram and Facebook:  HeartofaCowgirl.

See you there!

Rottweiler Wednesday returns!

Hard to believe, but Boots celebrated her 3rd birthday over the holidays.  Where did this little bitty bear cub go???

Here's the spoiled rottenweiler herself with her favorite birthday present...

She LOVES this thing. And we love it because it is tough as nails and lasts more than 5 minutes like the stuffed animals she loves to de-stuff and dismember (and generally make a huge mess with).  She's still a puppy at heart, that's for sure.

HAPPY ROTTIE WEDNESDAY EVERYONE!

Happy 2014!

Happy, happy new year everyone.  Meet Elasombra:

No, she's not ours :(    Although I'd love to have her!  She is our friends/neighbor's baby.  I first met this little cutie when she was just hours old.  Oh, how she has grown!  Only about 5 months old now, she is going to be a big girl.

Her mama, Shelby, (you can just see her behind us in this pic) is a rescued mustang. They weren't even sure she was pregnant until very shortly before this baby was born!

She is so sweet and friendly.  She just melts my heart.... Lee's too.   Look at that face!

Nothing better than an innocent little one.  All she has ever known is love and trusting.  I wish all horses could live this way.

My wish for the new year!

Happy Christmas Eve everyone!  I'm not sure where the time goes anymore.  Crazy!  The bunnies have the right idea - hunker down and relax :)

Wishing everyone a wonderful Christmas!  See you in 2014.  Time to get back to blogging!

Happy Birthday Bunnies!

Our little band o' bunnies turned 6 years old on August 4th.  Hard to believe they ever were this small:
And to celebrate their birthday, I bought them a special surprise --- a bunny fort!

This way, they can spend some time outdoors when the weather is nice and I don't have to worry about them being out in the open.  I put this in the courtyard outside my studio and I can look out the window and see them while I'm working at my bench.  :)

They had fun running in and out and eventually they all flopped inside (even though the door was still open).

Even Bully approved!
Digger and Sandie thought the willow chair was much more interesting, though.
Turbo gave the bunny-diva seal of approval (and seized the opportunity to look adorable, as always)
"They don't call me the bunny supermodel for nothing."

And last, but not least, Ginger.  He was more interested in the treats than the fort.
It has been another great year for this little family of bunnies.  Everyone is happy and healthy and well loved.  As it should be!

Till next time ---
XOXO, Sandie, Digger, Ginger, Bully & Turbo

50 Ability Marathons

My brother, Grant, and two of his friends, Aaron and Paul, are on an amazing journey this year.  50 marathons in 50 states in 50 weeks.  Pretty ambitious goal, to be sure.  Add the fact that all three guys are in wheelchairs and the word ambitious doesn't even begin to describe it.  Crazy, insane, out-of-control...yeah.  But mostly, inspiring and motivating!
(Grant, in the middle of the pack)

These athletes have taken on this monumental challenge to raise funds for The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation which is dedicated to curing spinal cord injury by funding innovative research, and improving the quality of life for people living with paralysis.  They are also taking time on their race trips to visit local rehabilitation centers and talk to the staff and patients to educate and motivate them about wheelchair sports and the physical and mental benefits associated with them.

This team of 3 road warriors is looking for sponsors to assist them with the necessary funds to complete their 50 state tour this year.  They have been getting a lot of press from local radio, TV and newspapers at each race they have been to so far.  Visit their Facebook page to see some of the video clips, photos and articles from the various races and please contact them if you are interested in becoming a sponsor.

(Paul, Aaron, and Grant)

Please also check out the 50 Ability Marathons website to read more about their personal stories, race schedule, (coming soon to a city near you!) and how you can help by donating to support their goal of 50 marathons in 50 states in 50 weeks.

Go guys... YOU CAN DO IT!

Bunny Sunday... Maybe, Just Maybe....

Daisy and Ginger have been having some play time together lately.  Initially I thought Turbo would be a good fit for a buddy for Daisy since she is the smallest and lowest on the totem pole of the bunny bunch.  Wrong.  Seems she has a chip on her little bunny shoulder and figured she would be the boss of Daisy, since she can't be the boss of anyone else!  She ran poor Daisy around and pulled tufts of fur out of her butt.  Bad Turby.

Ginger is the "middle" bun. (He's a boy bun with a girl bun name...just don't tell him that.)  Sandie and Digger are the 2 other boys, with Sandie being the patriarch of the bunch.  Digger seems to be second in command.  Bully and Turbo are the 2 girls.  Bully definitely lives up to her name and tries to be the boss of everyone.  She wants NOTHING to do with another girl bun, so I knew she was out of the running to be Daisy's friend.

Daisy presented herself to Ginger to be groomed, but he wasn't all that interested one way or the other.  He spent most of their time together eating any stray pellets he could find left over from Daisy's breakfast.  But there was no grunting or chasing going on, so I thought that was a good sign.
Until he did this!  And even then, there was no fighting going on.  Daisy was content to let him be the boss.  She really just wants a friend.  But, I finally had to intercede because I thought Ginger was going to squish her!
For now, I'm happy that I can put the two of them together for short visits.  It's good to see Daisy interacting with another bunny.  Keep your fingers crossed for more progress!

Happy Bunny Sunday to all.

Bunny Sunday

Hello bunny lovers!  I have some great pics to share of Daisy and a possible friend for her, however, Blogger is not allowing me to upload pics from my computer?  For the past few months, I've had sporadic ability to do so but now it is not even giving me the option of uploading pics from my computer (thus my lack of posts).  Anyone out there having similar issues?  I've googled it to find a fix, but no luck thus far.  HELP!

It does allow me to upload pics from my previous blog posts, however.  Thanks blogger, but I'd like to post something NEW.  Anyway, here's one of my favorites of Nutmeg posted several Easters ago...still makes me laugh!  She, however, was not amused.
Happy Bunny Sunday :)

Happy New Year/Rottweiler Wednesday

Happy 2013 everyone!  I hope your new year is getting off to a great start.

We are not sure of Boots' exact birthday, but it is somewhere around the first of the year, so she is now 2 years old!  Time sure flies.  I was going through pics of her puppy days...so dang cute!  This one was taken at Patagonia Lake when she was about 5 months old, before she figured out she could swim.  Now we can't keep her out of the water.
We've been having our share of cold, winter weather.  We even had a little bit of snow over the weekend.  So this picture gave me the warm fuzzies...a beautiful, sunny day at the lake in May.  Something to look forward to!

Happiest of New Years to you!
XOXO,
Bridget and Boots

Bunny Sunday

Sharing some of my favorite Christmas bunny pics this morning:

Nutmeg made the best little Santa.  I miss this little brown tyrant so much!
Bunnies and Cactus Rose...hoppin' around the Christmas tree...
Santa and her little helper elf, Ginger.  He was ok with the hat, but drew the line at the pointed elf shoes...
My very favorite pic of Nutmeg and Patches:
Patchy was always a good sport!  I had forgotten about this pic and it gave me a good laugh this morning.
One of  my favorite ornaments on the tree.  This is made from an original oil painting by the very talented Charlotte Yealey.
Happy Bunny Sunday and Merry Christmas to all from the Fab 5!
XOXO, Ginger, Turbo, Bully, Digger and Sandie

Rottweiler Wednesday

We're getting into the holiday spirit around our house.  The tree is up, although not decorated yet, hopefully tonight I'll get around to that!  Boots, of course, has her own stocking and I've been thinking about what to fill it with... she's been a pretty good girl this year.

Last year she be-headed one of my Santa decorations.  Shot her straight to the top of the naughty list!  Sorry mom, couldn't help myself...
Happy Rottie Wednesday!

Rottweiler Wednesday

Boots LOVES the water.  Ever since she figured out she can actually swim, there is no keeping her out of it.  Even muddy, yucky cattle watering hole water...

She's in heaven.  In fact, I think to her, the muddier the better.  Can you see her smiling?

Not one to be left out, I had to join in on the fun!  Boots looks like a black crocodile following behind us...
Shortly after this picture was taken, we went through a deep spot and sunk right down to the horse's back. That was fun! And cold. And definitely wet. And oh yeah, muddy. :)  It was GREAT!
We both had to get a bath when we got home.  But, I agree with Boots, it was worth getting wet and stinky!

Happy Rottie Wednesday :)

Bunny Sunday

Double trouble...
Daisy loves to sit by the sliding glass door and look at her reflection.  Sometimes I wonder if she thinks it is another bunny?  We have been talking lately about contacting one of the local rescues to see if we can find her a buddy.  We haven't had much luck getting the other buns to let her into their club.  They are fine through the bunny fence, but so far no one is very nice to her when we've tried to get them out together.  :(  I know she would love to have someone to snuggle up with, so hopefully we can find her a buddy soon.  We just had her spayed a few weeks ago, which is what we were waiting on, so now we're all set.

I think a little speed dating is in order for Ms. Daisy very soon.  Stay tuned!

Happy Bunny Sunday.

Rottweiler Wednesday

Antler?
Old sock?
Chewed up/de-stuffed animal that mom got on clearance after Halloween?
What does a rottie need to do to get someone to play with them around this joint? *sigh*

Happy Rottie Wednesday anyway!

Love, Boots

Rottweiler.... day

Yep, missed Rottie Wednesday again!  What the heck.  Well, hey, everyday is rottie day around here...

Boots found this while lurking on FaceBook and asked me to share it.  I think she said something like, "True Dat".

That middle pic on the bottom looks vaguely familiar to me...
Happy Rottie Thursday everyone!

Bunny Monday

I tried and tried yesterday to post a very cute video of the bunnies, but no luck.  Our internet connection out here in the "sticks" leaves a lot to be desired.  Oh well, maybe another time.

On another more exciting note, Daisy has a new friend!
OK, just kidding.  This is pretty cute though, don't you think? But, seriously...check this out:
Daisy and Turbo have been hanging out together along the pen that separates them from each other.  Sometimes Turbo will even try to groom Daisy through the fence.  It's very sweet.  I know Daisy really wants to make friends, so we have been getting them out together a little bit lately.  They let me snuggle them together like this with no problems this morning.
They even ran around and played a little bit, although it started to get a tad rough (Turbo nipping Daisy in the butt) and we had to finally separate them.  But, it was progress and I think eventually they might become good friends.  It's been making me sad to see Daisy by herself with no one to love, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Wishing everyone a great week!

Rottweiler Wednesday

Boots has been very busy lately entertaining all of her many friends that come by for visits and sleep overs.

For the last month, Freckles has been staying with us while her mom is out of town.  She's an older girl and doesn't like to play as much as Boots would like, but she is good company for Boots.

And then we've had a new visitor lately, a little guy named Zayn.  He's been back a few times now and Boots just loves him.  She's about 4 times his size, but they play very well together... she just makes sure to get on the floor to play at his level.
And when Inca comes, they all get in on the action...
And then all crash out together.  :)
We have a revolving dog door around this place.  And we wouldn't have it any other way!

Happy Rottie Wednesday everyone.
