Somewhere Over the Rainbows....

Yep, a DOUBLE rainbow. Very pretty. I took this
picture yesterday in the afternoon. It was raining
while the sun was shining. That pot of gold
is just waiting for me over there on top of that
mountain....

Trendy Shoppes

I found a new venue for selling my jewelry recently. It is called Trendy Shoppes and is an online shop featuring a wide variety of handcrafted items. Trendy Shoppes supports independent designers, artists and crafters as opposed to big corporations. All of the designers are dedicated to producing quality items and take great pride in the work they do. If you are looking for something that you can't get at the local mall, Trendy Shoppes is a great place to shop.
The website is really easy to navigate and you can shop by price, category and even designer. Check it out at: http://www.trendyshoppes.com/. If you go to "Designers" at the top of the page, there is a drop down menu where you can find Heart of a Cowgirl.

Bandit on the Loose

We've had a lot of rain this summer and as a result, we now have a lot of green grass and weeds! Our solution to mowing the grass.... let the horses out to graze. Free mowing service and free feed for the horses at the same time! Such a deal. (At $15 a bale for hay these days, I'm thinking of renting out the horses to mow lawns). Really, the only horse we let out without us being out there to supervise is Bandit. But, lately he has decided he likes the neighbors' grass better than ours (hmmm... the grass is always greener??) and wanders over there. Here's where I found him this afternoon:

Uh oh... BUSTED...
Not that he cares, he went right back to eating when I told him to go home. Good thing we have great neighbors who don't mind him coming over for a visit!

More critters...

Snakes, gila monsters.... what next?
Tarantula.
Just now, sitting at my work table working on a few new designs, I happened to look down and almost directly under my chair was this furry little guy. I've seen bigger, but not in the house! It's hard to tell from the pic, but he was about the size of a baseball in diameter. He must have come through the doggy door. Great....
Lee scooped him up in the dustpan and put him out in the courtyard. Hopefully he'll stay out there.
Visions of tarantulas in the bed....

Arizona Sunset

I caught this sunset this evening after feeding the horses and goats. It was one of those really nice fall evenings (if there is such a thing in Arizona), right before the sun sets. So peaceful. Walking back to the house I saw this blaze of color and grabbed my new camera to get some pics. I snapped a few pics before it was gone. The nice thing is, sunsets like this are part of living in the desert...tomorrow there will be another masterpiece to enjoy. :)

Puppy Love

I created this bracelet this weekend for all the dog lovers out there. I love the cute little puppy link! It was handcrafted by another Etsy artisan.

It reminds me of Snuffy as a puppy. He's definitely not a puppy anypmore (at least not in size, be he still acts like one!) Here he is in his pool:

And not to be left out, here is Angel, Snuffy's partner in crime:

Bunnies Eating Breakfast

Here are our baby bunnies gathered round the feed bowl, eating their breakfast this morning. I guess they are not babies anymore, they just turned one on August 4th.

From left to right: Digger, Ginger, Sandie, Bully and little Turbo.
If this scene doesn't put you in a good mood for the day, I don't know what will! Bunnies are good therapy. :)

Critters

Sitting here at 9pm on Saturday night, Snuffy was outside barking and barking.... Lee went outside to check and sure enough, he was barking at a rattle snake. YIKES! This is the first one we have seen this year, but it was a little too close to the house for our liking. So we "relocated" him...

Must be the day for critters. Earlier, coming up the road in the truck, we saw a little Gila Monster crossing the road. We stopped to check him out. He was a little less than a foot in length. Kinda cute, in a lizard/dinasaur kind of way. He ambled over to the side of the road and disappeared into the brush.

Didn't have my camera handy for either one!

If Only They Could Talk

I sometimes wonder what the stories are behind the boots I use to make my cowgirl wristlets. Some are obviously more used and worn than others and have seen many miles. Maybe they have ridden the range chasing wild cattle? Others look well cared for and barely worn. Perhaps they were someone's "dress" boots and were only used to dance the occasional two-step on Saturday nights? Who knows. But, it is kind of fun to think about.
Here is a pile of wristlets in the making. So far my little cowgirl wristlets have gone on to new homes in New Hampshire, Kansas, Texas and several to New York. I hope everyone who purchased them is enjoying them ... and maybe thinking up their own stories of where these boots have been.
